Adalm Pluto SDR

The easy-to-use ADALM-PLUTO active learning module (PlutoSDR) helps electrical engineering students with the fundamentals of software-defined radio (SDR), radio frequency (RF), and wireless communications. Designed for students of all levels and backgrounds, the module can be used for both teacher-led and self-paced learning to help students lay a foundation for real-world RF and communications development, upon which to build in pursuit of science and technology or technical degrees. Combining HF theory with HF practice, the PlutoSDR works as a portable laboratory that, when combined with a host, can enhance classroom learning. MATLAB and Simulink are two of the many software packages supported by PlutoSDR. It offers an intuitive graphical user interface (GUI) that helps students learn faster, work smarter, and explore more. Made for teachers, students and self-learners.

The PlutoSDR has independent reception and transmission channels that can be operated in full duplex. The active learning module can generate or acquire analog RF signals from 325 MHz to 3800 MHz at up to 61.44 megapixels per second (MSPS). PlutoSDR is small enough to fit in a shirt pocket. It is fully self-contained and fully USB powered with stock firmware. Since PlutoSDR is enabled by libiio drivers, it supports OS X, Windows and Linux, which allows students to learn about and explore different devices. With dozens of online tutorials available for SDR based projects, PlutoSDR offers labs and educational material on topics such as ADS-B aircraft position, receiving NOAA and Meteor M2 weather satellite imagery, GSM analysis, TETRA signals, pager decoding and much more !
